Is the Volvo XC40 Hybrid 4 wheel drive?

The Volvo XC40 Hybrid is not a four-wheel drive vehicle. It is powered by a 180hp 3-cylinder, 1.5-litre petrol engine and an 82hp/160Nm electric motor powered by a 10.7kWh lithium-ion battery. This powertrain is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and is only front-wheel drive. The more powerful XC40 Recharge variant has an electric motor at each axle, making it four-wheel-drive, and its extra power allows it to launch to 62mph in a very rapid 4.9 seconds.

The B4 and B5 models feature a 48-volt hybrid system, with the B5 pairing exclusively with all-wheel drive while the entry-level B4 comes only with front-wheel drive. The XC40 Recharge plug-in hybrid also has an electric motor at each axle, but it is only front-wheel drive. Therefore, the Volvo XC40 Hybrid is not a four-wheel drive vehicle.
